Grace W. Lastly, creativity was very important in a recent personal experience of my own.A few years ago traveled to New Orleans to help with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.I remember mentally preparing myself by imagining a city so broken down that it would take years to fix. Yet, when I actually arrived in New Orleans, I realized that none of the images I had created in my mind came close to the horror that was laid out in front of me. During my two weeks in New Orleans, creative ideas were needed constantly. We had to brainstorm ways to rescue people out of teeny crevices and think of words that would make terrified people feel at ease. I learned that in any situation where people are scared out of their minds, creativity is necessary in trying to calm them down and in trying to make them feel more comfortable.
