《飞越疯人院》One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest

Diana K. One compelling illustration that progress is impossible without sacrifice is demonstrated in Ken Kesey's novel, One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. In this novel, which take place in a psychiatric hospital, the dictatorial Nurse Ratched controls and treats the patients unfairly. When a new patient Randle McMurphy attends the hospital, he rebels against Nurse Ratched's suppressive power. However, this achievement of power is not met without sacrifice as McMurphy receives a lobotomy as punishment for his rebellion.
