一月雅思口语话题已新鲜出炉,根据现有的题目来看有不少的旧话题回归,像是an ideal house, a small company, a crowded place等都是15年或是17年的话题。

Describe a change that can improve your local area为例来说一说如何应对恼人的新题吧!

Describe a change that can improve your local area

You should say:

What it is

How it can be made

What problem it might bring

And how you feel about it

Well, in my town, traffic is a major daily headache and it’s time to make it better.

Literally speaking, being stuck in the heavy traffic flow is like an everyday occurrence, especially on peak time. What’s worse, if you are unlucky enough to get caught in an extreme weather, like a downpour or a snowstorm, a half-hour drive will turn into 2 hours even longer.

While, the thing is the economic level of XX is nowhere near Peking or SH, why is it so congested? Maybe growing private cars and poor traffic management should be blamed for this issue. To address the problem, our local government should put some actions into practice. For one thing, we need to create priority lanes or express lanes for buses, by doing so, commuters would take public transport as their number one choice to get around, instead of driving. For another, the government could give more concern on the bicycle sharing service. To my knowledge, riding is a great way of getting to our destination without contributing to traffic. Not only will this take cars off the road, but it will improve our health and help the environment as well. You know, it’s like killing two birds with one stone.

Indeed, it’s not a modest investment, but I do believe it’s worth the money in the long run.

headache n.

be stuck in 被困在

half-hour adj.

put something into practice 把…

lane n.

kill two birds with one stone

Describe a crowded place you went to

Describe an important journey that was delayed

Describe an occasion when weather prevented your activity

Well, this topic reminds me a time I was caught in __ . And more regretfully, I missed a XX I actually looked forward to.

Well, in my town, traffic is a major daily headache. Literally speaking, being stuck in the heavy traffic flow is like an everyday occurrence, especially on peak time. The other day, I was on my way to XX and the terrible thing happened. One moment it was sunny and warm, but the next it became raining cats and dogs, which made the traffic even worse. I mean, the main street was packed with cars and worried drivers and passengers. You could hear the unbearably loud car horns and helpless sighs from people.

Anyway, that was not the worst part of the day.

Personally speaking, to address the problem, the local government should put some actions into practice. For one thing, blah blah blah

For another, blah blah blah
