The New Year’s Day is a time when family members and friends come together to celebrate the advent of the New Year.

元旦的时候大家会和家人朋友聚在一起庆祝新年的到来。

There are lots of traditions of it. Usually, families will have a dinner together, share their memories of this year, and make some resolutions for the coming year.

元旦的传统有很多。通常来说，家人们会聚在一起吃饭，互相分享过去的一年中发生的事情，然后说一下新一年的目标。

Moreover, in some cities, on the New Year’s Eve, myriad of people will gather at a famous city landmark to count down the final seconds until next year as they appreciate brightly lit fireworks blossoming in the sky.

还有，在一些城市，在跨年夜，很多人会聚集在城市的地标，边看烟火边和身边的人一起倒数跨年。

However, my favorite part of the New Year is the New Year Eve concert where all the famous singers perform their songs released during the year in a live show. I love it the best because I really enjoy watching my idols performing on the stage, which helps remind me of all the happy memories I had during this year and bring me hope for the New Year.

不管怎么说，跨年演唱会才是我最喜欢的部分。在跨年演唱会上，著名的歌手们会表演他们在这一年里发表的歌。我最喜欢跨年演唱会因为我真的超喜欢看我爱豆在舞台上表演的样子，这样可以帮我回忆今年所有开心的去而且让我为新的一年充满希望。

春节 Chinese New Year/ Spring Festival

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is a festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. Its date also varies depending on the traditional Chinese calendar.

春节是一个庆祝中国传统新年开始的节日。

This is the most celebrated day of the entire year in China, just like Christmas in western countries. Families will gather together to have a nice meal. The most typical dish is definitely dumplings. The dumplings my mom makes can always offer me a sense of home.

春节是中国一年中最盛大的节日，就像西方的圣诞节一样。家人们都会聚在一起吃大餐。最典型的一道菜便是饺子啦。我妈妈做的饺子总是给我一种家的味道。

Also, according to ancient Chinese allegories, in order to get rid of all the bad lucks, people will set off firecrackers and only leave the good lucks for the new year.

而且，根据中国古代寓言故事，为了去除过去一年的坏运气，人们会通过放鞭炮的方式让新的一年只剩下好运。

Nonetheless, for all the kids, their favorite thing of Chinese New Year must be receiving 'red packets' from their relatives. Red packets refer to the money wrapped in red envelopes. People always give kids money during the Spring Festival and hope that these money can help them have a happier year.

然而，对于孩子来说，他们在春节最喜欢的事情还是从亲戚那里收红包。红包就是用红信封包装起来的钱。大人们总是会在春节给孩子们红包，希望这些红包可以让孩子在新的一年里更加开心快乐。
