The diagrams below show the changes of a town called Bridgetown in 1700 and 2000.
|
范文 |
The modification for a town, Bridgetown, during the period of 1700 to 2000 is clearly illustrated in the given maps. Before reconstruction, the town was divided into two parts by a river. A bridge across the river connected the roads in the northwest and southeast. In the northwestern part of the town,a large piece of land was occupied by some woods, with a market place located inside and a castle situated to the north, while on the other side of the river, the land was mainly used for farming. By the year of 2000,great changes have taken place in this town. To be more specific,a railway line was newly built adjacent to the bridge and a bypass was extended from the roads for better transport. The former castle was replaced by a school and similarly, the farmland in the southwest of the town was reconstructed into a build-up area. Overall, the layout of the town remained unchanged but some newly-constructed facilities ornamented this area and made it more modern. |

Children today find it difficult to concentrate or pay attention in schools. Why do you think causes this problem? What do we need to do to solve this problem? |
范文 |
It is not uncommon to hear the complaint that children nowadays are easily distracted from what they are supposed to do in class. The factors responsible for this problem and feasible solutions accordingly will be analyzed in this report. Among all the possible reasons, the excessive application of electronic products in school should bear the blame. Children born and raised in this digital age have been accustomed to keeping in touch with the outside world through their smart phones or iPad. As a result, various social media and mobile game APPs bring the world closer to them but dampen their enthusiasm on absorbing knowledge and skills. To expand their attention span in class and solve this problem, there are some measures that need to be taken into consideration. It is advisable for teachers, who usually function as the monitors and managers of the class,to set rules about phone using. For example, anyone caught using electronic products for non-academic purposes more than three times will be given an “F”in the final exam. This can bring an immediate and tangible outcome within a short time. In addition, distracting students from screens back to the whiteboard is also a way worth trying. Some activities designed for raising energy level of students so as to get them better involved in class can be applied wisely, like role-play,mingling,seminar etc. These kind of activities convert the traditionally teacher-centered teaching pattern into the student-centered one and consequently compete with phones for student’s interest and attention. In conclusion, the abuse of electronic products in the classroom is the root cause of students' attention issues and the responsibility of sparing students from this problem falls on teachers. |
