For many years, there has been a growing trend towards digitization which may lead to the obsolescence of the printed books. Some people argue that electronic storage casts doubt on the necessity of printed books, while others conceive differently and they maintain that printed books will keep playing a significant role in our lives. For my part, I stand by the former opinion.

Firstly, since printed books lead to the waste of natural resources and are inconvenient to carry and store, why shouldn’t we say goodbye to them and pick up the digital reading devices? Moreover, considering information searching, storage and processing, digital technology provides a more efficient way. Finally, it is impossible to keep pace with the ever-changing times without making best use of the digital books, which are the production of social and technological development.

Although some people believe that with the ever changing times and fast-paced life, printed books help us calm down and restore the peace in heart, they seem to neglect the fact that pursuit of high efficiency is the theme of modern life, despite the requirement of a small group for the slow-paced, peaceful life. I feel that digital books can satisfy people’s demand for high efficiency and therefore replace the printed books in the long run.

From what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that printer books will give way to digital reading devices despite some doubtful voices. Only when we choose the high efficient means of obtaining information can we avoid getting left behind in the ever-changing times.
