1. droll /drol/ adj. 离奇古怪的,滑稽的

: having an odd and amusing quality

【小明说】与draw同源，draw作为词根表示拉线，划线;因此droll表示拖长音说话，不好好说话，故意搞怪的感觉，引申为“离奇古怪的，滑稽的”。

2. inconclusive /ˌɪnkən’klusɪv/ adj. 非决定性的,无结果的

: leading to no conclusion or definite result

【小明说】in-=not;conclusive 令人信服的，确凿的(与“conclusion 结论”是同根词，因此conclusive 即可以让人得出结论的);如果再拆分conclusive的话，con-=完全;clus-=close 关上，完全关上，表示有定论了。

3. disperse /dɪ’spɝs/ vt. & vi. (使)散开, 驱散

: to go or move in different directions

【小明说】dis-=away 分开;sper-=散开，同根词：spread;因此disperse表示散开到四面八方的，即“散开，驱散”。

4. amplify /‘æmplɪfaɪ/ v. 详述;放大, 扩大

: to speak or write about (something) in a more complete way

: to make larger or greater

【小明说】源自ample 大的，-ify为动词后缀，表示使动。

5. exaggerate /ɪɡ’zædʒəret/ v.(使)扩大, (使)增加

: to make (something) larger or greater than norma

【小明说】ex-=向外，agger-=堆积;堆积在一起，越来越多，引申为“扩大，增加”。

6. unwitting /ʌn’wɪtɪŋ/ adj. 不知情的, 非故意的, 无意的

: not aware of what is really happening

: not intended or planned

【小明说】un-=not;wit作为单词表示“智力，才智”(源自词根vit-=vis-=see)，因此unwitting表示“不知道的，无意的”。

7. inclusive /ɪn’klusɪv/ adj. 包括…的, 包括一切的;开放的

: broad in orientation or scope

: not limited to certain people

8. diatribe /‘daɪətraɪb/ n. 谩骂,讽刺

【小明说】pro-=先前;mulg-=milk，挤奶;源源不断的挤奶，有所产出;这里是比喻用法，表示“传播，宣传”。

: the linking together of principles from different disciplines especially when forming a comprehensive theory

【小明说】con-=一起，sil-=sult-=leap 跳跃;因此表示，跳到一起去，引申义“符合，一致”。
