Large-Scale Portraits of WWI Soldiers Crafted on Beaches in UK

On beaches in the United Kingdom, members of the public observe and contribute to large-scale temporary pieces of art that honor casualties from World War I.This beach is one of dozens across the UK that are part of a national project launched by Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle and the UK’s official Arts Program commemorating World War I 14-18 Now.We want you to try and find a way to refresh it as opposed to complement it and refresh it for today for the hundredth anniversary.Really, it is lovely to see people walking around and doing their own stencils and patiently in there,in the blustery conditions patiently waiting for the tide to come.

People were invited to help raking soldiers silhouette onto the beach.Volunteers helped create images of soldiers affiliated with the local area.We try to find connections in each of the beaches.We’ve done this at 32 beaches, around the country, all about 30.And we try to find connections, stories like that that brings it home.The face is drawn in the sand are expected to last just until high tide washes them away.To come around the corner and to see a huge scale like this, was absolutely glorious really.
